About this banknote
The Central Bank of Venezuela (Banco Central de Venezuela) issued the 100 bolívares banknote on October 29, 2013. This note is part of the Bolívar Fuerte series, introduced in 2008 to replace the previous currency system. The Bolívar Fuerte aimed to simplify transactions by removing three zeros from the old bolívar.
The obverse features a portrait of Simón Bolívar in military uniform. The reverse displays the national coat of arms, a view of Waraira Repano National Park (also known as El Ávila National Park), and two black-hooded red siskin birds (Carduelis cucullata). This banknote measures 156 x 69 mm and was printed by the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela. It includes a solid security thread and a watermark of Simón Bolívar with an electrotype "100".
