About this banknote

The National Bank of Ukraine issued the 10-hryvnia banknote in 2000, featuring the signature of Volodymyr Stelmakh, who served as Chairman from January 21, 2000, to December 17, 2002. This series was printed domestically by the Banknote Printing Works of the National Bank of Ukraine, established in 1994.

The obverse displays a portrait of Ivan Mazepa (1639–1709), Hetman of Ukrainian Cossacks, with the denomination "ДЕСЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ" (Ten Hryvnias) and the inscription "НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ" (National Bank of Ukraine). The reverse features the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, with the year "2000" and the same inscriptions. The banknote measures 133 x 66 mm and includes a watermark of Ivan Mazepa.
