About this banknote
The Norwegian government-in-exile issued the 1 krone banknote in 1944, printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. in London. These notes were produced in preparation for post-World War II currency exchange in Norway. Approximately 111 million kroner were printed for the 1944 issue.
The front of the note features dark brown printing on a green underprint, with the crowned monogram of King Haakon VII at the center and the denomination on either side. The reverse side is green, displaying the crowned monogram of Haakon VII at the center, with the value to the sides. These notes were intended for circulation after Norway's liberation but were not widely issued.
