About this banknote
The Norges Bank issued the 5-krone banknote (Pick 7c) in 1940 as part of its Series II, which was in circulation from 1901 to 1945. This series was designed by Oluf Wold-Torne and engraved by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. in London. Initially printed in London on Austrian paper, production moved to Norway in 1907, utilizing paper from Alvøens Papirfabrikk Ltd near Bergen.
The obverse of the 5-krone note features a portrait of Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, President of the Storting, with the signature of G. Meldahl Nielsen, who served from 1935 to 1944. The reverse displays a central St. Olav's rose, a stylized Viking king on the left, and Norway's coat of arms surmounted by the royal crown on the right. This note measures 127 x 72 mm and was printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited in London.
