About this banknote
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued the 50 trillion dollar banknote (Pick No. 90) on January 16, 2009, during a period of extreme hyperinflation. This denomination was part of the 2008–2009 series, which saw rapidly increasing values to accommodate the declining purchasing power of the currency.
The obverse of the banknote features the Chiremba Balancing Rocks in Matopos National Park, a recurring motif in Zimbabwean currency. The reverse depicts the Kariba Dam and an elephant. Printed by Fidelity Printers & Refiners in Harare, the note measures 148 x 74 mm and was demonetized on October 1, 2015.
