About this banknote

The National Bank of Romania issued the 5,000 lei banknote in March 1992 as part of the 1991–1994 series. This series was introduced following the adoption of Romania's new coat of arms with the Constitution of 1991, which came into effect in September 1992.

The obverse features a round seal at the left center, a church at the center, and a portrait of Avram Iancu at the right. The reverse displays Densuș Church at the left, the Dacian Draco ensign across the top, and the gate of Alba Iulia Citadel at the center. The watermark is a bust of Avram Iancu.
