About this banknote
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued the 5,000-dollar bearer cheque (Pick 45) on February 1, 2007, during a period of severe currency shortages. These bearer cheques were introduced as temporary legal tender to alleviate the scarcity of regular banknotes.
The front of the note features the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe's logo, while the back depicts the Kariba Dam on the Zambezi River. Measuring 148 x 74 mm, the note includes a solid security thread with demetalized "RBZ" and a watermark of the Zimbabwe Bird with electrotype "RBZ." It was printed by Fidelity Printers and signed by Dr. Gideon Gono, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
