About this banknote
The Banco Central de Chile issued the 500 pesos banknote in 1977, with the Pick number 153a. This series was introduced during the tenure of Alvaro Bardón Muñoz as President of the Central Bank (1977–1981) and Carlos Molina Orrego as General Manager (1973–1985).
The obverse features a portrait of Pedro de Valdivia on the right side. The reverse depicts the founding of Santiago de Chile, an oil painting by Pedro Lira. The banknote measures 145 x 70 mm and was printed by the Casa de Moneda de Chile.
