The Central Bank of Chile issued the 500 pesos banknote (Pick 115) between 1947 and 1959. This series was introduced to facilitate higher-value transactions during a period of economic growth.
The obverse features a blue portrait of President Jorge Montt at the center. The reverse displays a depiction of the arrival of Diego de Almagro in Chile. The banknote measures 145 × 70 mm and was printed by Talleres de Especies Valoradas in Santiago. It includes a watermark of Diego Portales.
