The Central Bank of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası) issued the 500 lira banknote (Pick 195) in 1983, under the authority of Law No. 1211 dated January 14, 1970. This series was introduced to meet the country's growing economic needs during that period.
