About this banknote
The Central Bank of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası) issued the 500 lira banknote (Pick 195) in 1983, under the authority of Law No. 1211 dated January 14, 1970. This series was introduced to meet the country's growing economic needs during that period.
The obverse features a portrait of President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the right side, with blue tones on a multicolor underprint. The reverse displays the Clock Tower in Izmir at the left center. The banknote measures 140 x 72 mm and includes a watermark of Atatürk. It was demonetized on August 21, 1999.
