The Central Bank of Turkey issued the 50 lira banknote (Pick 188) on April 9, 1976, as part of the 6th Emission Group. This series was introduced under the authority of the 14 January 1970 Law No. 1211.

The obverse features a portrait of President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the right side. The reverse depicts the Marble Fountain located in Topkapı Palace in Istanbul. The banknote measures 160 x 71 mm and includes a watermark of Atatürk's head in half-profile. It was demonetized on August 21, 1997.
