The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued the 500-dollar banknote (Pick 11b) in 2004, featuring the signature of Governor Gideon Gono, who assumed office in December 2003. This note was part of the 1994-2004 "Chiremba Rocks" series, which was introduced to address the country's escalating inflation and economic challenges.

The obverse of the banknote displays the Chiremba Balancing Rocks in Matopos National Park, accompanied by a Zimbabwe Bird in color-shifting ink. The reverse features the Hwange Thermal Power Station. The note measures 155 x 78 mm and includes a watermark of the Zimbabwe Bird and the denomination "500." It was demonetized on August 21, 2006.
