About this banknote
The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú issued the 50 soles de oro banknote on September 9, 1971. This issuance was part of a series that began in 1969, with subsequent releases in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974. The 1971 note featured the signatures of President Ejecutivo Emilio G. Barreto Bermeo and Director Germán de la Melena Guzmán.
The front of the banknote displays two miners with a hammer and pry bar, along with the national coat of arms and an image of Túpac Amaru II wearing a hat. The reverse side features a depiction of the San Bartolomé churchyard in the historic town of Tinta. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, Limited, the note measures 155 x 65 mm and was issued in series H95 through H105, totaling 10 million units.
