About this banknote
The Bank of Uganda issued the 50 Shillings banknote in 1987. This series was introduced following the currency reform in the late 1980s aimed at stabilizing the Ugandan economy and managing inflation. It marked a new era of currency design after significant political and economic changes in the country.
The front side of the banknote features the coat of arms of Uganda, and the denomination is prominently displayed. The reverse side depicts an image of the Bank of Uganda building. The note is primarily red and green in color. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue and Company Limited, a well-known security printing company.
