The Banco de México issued the 50 pesos banknote (Pick 67b) on May 17, 1979. This series was part of the bank's ongoing efforts to update the national currency during the late 1970s.
The obverse features a portrait of Benito Juárez on the right and the National Palace on the left. The reverse displays a Zapotec funerary urn depicting the god of maize, Cozobi, with the Palace of Columns at Mitla in the background. This note was demonetized on January 1, 1996.
