About this banknote
The Bank of Mexico (Banco de México) issued the 50 pesos banknote in 1963 as part of a series produced between 1948 and 1972. This series was printed by the American Bank Note Company.
The obverse features a portrait of Ignacio Allende on the left side. The reverse displays the Monument to Independence (Monumento a la Independencia) in Mexico City, designed by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado and sculptor Enrique Alciati. This banknote was demonetized on January 1, 1996.
