About this banknote
The Central Bank of Brazil issued the 50 cruzados banknote in 1986. This series was introduced as part of the Cruzado Plan, implemented on February 28, 1986, to stabilize the Brazilian economy and curb hyperinflation. The plan replaced the cruzeiro with the cruzado at a rate of 1,000:1.
