About this banknote
The Banco Central de Bolivia issued this 5 bolivianos banknote in 1987 as part of a provisional series during the transition from the peso boliviano to the boliviano. To facilitate this change, existing 5,000,000 peso boliviano notes (Pick 192A) were overprinted with the new denomination of 5 bolivianos.
The front of the note features a brown-orange and red-brown color scheme on a multicolored underprint, with the head of Mercury at the left. The overprint indicating the new denomination is located on the left end of the reverse side. The note measures 158 x 66 mm and includes a solid security thread and an indistinct pattern watermark. It was printed by Casa da Moeda do Brasil and bears the signatures of General Manager Raul Tovar Piérola and President René Goméz Garcia.
