About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 5 leva banknote in 1962 as part of the third lev currency reform, which redenominated the lev at a rate of 10 to 1. This series was printed by Goznak, the Russian state printing company.
The obverse features the coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria on the left, with the denomination "5" in a vignette on the right. The reverse depicts a view of the Zlatni Pyasatsi (Golden Sands) seaside resort. The banknote measures 115 x 59 mm and has a watermark consisting of a stylized hammer and sickle pattern.
