About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 5 kwacha banknote in 1976 as part of the ND (1974-1976) "Printer TDLR" series. This series featured the signature of Governor Luke Mwanashiku, who served from 1976 to 1981.
The obverse of the banknote displays a portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda on the right and the national coat of arms at the upper center. The reverse features the University of Zambia on the left and children at the right center. The watermark is a depiction of President Kaunda. Printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co. Limited, the note measures 144 x 73 mm and was demonetized on July 1, 2013.
