About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 2 kwacha banknote (Pick 24) in 1980, during the tenure of Governor Luke Mwanashiku (1976–1981). This series was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, Limited, London.
The obverse features an African fish eagle at the left center and a portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda in tribal attire on the right. The reverse depicts a teacher assisting a student with painting, alongside a school building. The banknote includes a watermark of President Kaunda and a solid security thread.
