About this banknote
The Danmarks Nationalbank issued the 5 kroner banknote in 1946 as part of the 1944 series, known as the substitution series. This series was developed in secret during 1943–1944 and designed by Danish painter Gerhard Heilmann. The banknotes were introduced in 1945 immediately after the end of World War II.
The front of the 5 kroner note features interwoven figures of the number five, while the back displays rosettes with the small coat of arms in the middle. The note measures 130 x 72 mm and was printed by the Banknote Printing Works. It ceased to be legal tender in 1954.
