Banknote description

The banknote is a 5 escudos issued in Portugal in 1914. It is cataloged under Pick number 114 and measures 146 x 95 mm.

The front side features the inscription "Banco de Portugal 1913-1918 Regular Issue 29.7.1913-1.2.1923" in purple on a light blue underprint. A seated woman is depicted on the left, offering a wreath, with a portrait of A. Herculano at the top center. The back side displays a fortress at the center with a brown background. The watermark is a Minerva head, and the note was printed by BWC, without an imprint.
