About this banknote
The Central Bank of Bolivia (Banco Central de Bolivia) issued the 5 bolivianos banknote in 1987, following the enactment of Law 901 on November 28, 1986. This legislation introduced the second boliviano, replacing the previous peso boliviano at a rate of 1 boliviano to 1 million pesos bolivianos.
The obverse features a portrait of Adela Zamudio at the right and the national coat of arms at the lower left. The reverse depicts the Virgen del Socavón shrine at the center. The banknote includes a watermark of Simón Bolívar and was printed by F. C. Oberthur.
