About this banknote
The Banco de la República de Colombia issued the 200 Pesos Oro banknote on August 10, 1992. This release marked the final issuance of the 200 Pesos Oro denomination before it was replaced by a coin of the same value in 1994.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of José Celestino Mutis, a Spanish priest and botanist who led the Royal Botanical Expedition to New Granada. The reverse depicts the Church Monastery of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, also known as La Bordadita, located in Bogotá. The note measures 140 x 70 mm and was printed by the Imprenta de Billetes - Santa Fé de Bogotá.
