About this banknote
The Bank of Albania issued the 200 Lekë banknote in 2001, featuring the signatures of Governor Dr. Shkëlqim Cani and Director Palok Kolnikaj. This issuance followed the initial release of the 200 Lekë note on 11 July 1997, with subsequent reissues on 8 April 2002 and 20 July 2009.
The obverse of the banknote displays a portrait of Naim Frashëri (1846–1900), a prominent figure of the Albanian Renaissance, accompanied by an open book in the background. The reverse features an image of Frashëri's birthplace, a page with verses from his poem "Ti Shqipëri më jep nder, më jep emrin Shqipëtar," and a stylized depiction of his pen. The note measures 138 x 69 mm and was printed by François-Charles Oberthür in 2001.
