About this banknote
The Bank of Albania issued the 100 Lekë banknote (Pick 62) on July 11, 1997, as part of a new series dated 1996–97. This series was introduced to modernize the national currency and enhance security features. The 100 Lekë note was printed by De La Rue in the United Kingdom.
The obverse features a portrait of Fan S. Noli, an influential Albanian-American writer, scholar, and politician, along with a blazing torch and the building façade of the Bank of Albania. The reverse displays the logo of the Pan-Albanian Federation "Vatra," the first Albanian Parliament building (now the Academy of Sciences), and the logo of the newspaper "Dielli." This banknote was demonetized on December 31, 2008.
