About this banknote
The National Bank of Romania (Banca Națională a României) issued the 200 lei banknote on December 1, 2006. This release was part of the 2005 revaluation series, which introduced new denominations following the redenomination of the Romanian leu.
The obverse features a portrait of poet Lucian Blaga (1895–1961), accompanied by poppy flowers and an open book displaying his poems "Autoportret" and "9 mai 1895." The reverse depicts the Neolithic statue "The Thinker of Hamangia," a rainbow, and an old water mill. This polymer note measures 150 x 82 mm and includes security features such as a transparent window and a simulated solid security thread.
