About this banknote
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issued the 20 Rupees banknote (Pick 109a) on November 15, 1995. This series was introduced during the tenure of Governor Amarananda Jayawardena, who served from November 15, 1995, to June 30, 2004, and Finance Minister Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, who held office from September 30, 1994, to December 5, 2001.
The obverse features a traditional Garuda bird mask on the right side, with the signatures of C. B. Kumaratunga and A. S. Jayawardena. The reverse depicts two youths fishing, accompanied by images of sea shells and exotic fish. The banknote measures 129 x 65 mm and was printed by De La Rue, London.
