About this banknote
The Central Bank of Egypt issued the 20-pound banknote (Pick 74) on October 31, 2016. This release continued the design elements of the previous series (Pick 65) with updated security features, including a 4 mm wide security thread.
The obverse features the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, constructed between 1830 and 1848 within the Cairo Citadel. The reverse displays a bas-relief from the Abu Simbel Temple, depicting Ramses II in a war chariot. The note measures 155 x 70 mm and is predominantly gray and green.
