About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia planned to issue a 20 kwacha banknote in 1974, featuring an older portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda on the obverse and the National Assembly building on the reverse. This design was part of a series printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., intended to update the nation's currency.
Despite being printed, the 20 kwacha note (Pick number 18) was never officially released into circulation. Specimen notes exist, marked with the word "SPECIMEN" in red on both sides. Due to their rarity, these notes are highly valued among collectors.
