About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 20 kwacha banknote (Pick 36) in 1992, as part of a series introduced that year. This series marked a design shift by replacing the portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda with the fish eagle on the obverse.
The obverse features a fish eagle perched on a branch, the coat of arms, a dove, and a tree. The reverse displays a kudu antelope, the State House in Lusaka with the national flag, and the Freedom Statue in Lusaka. The banknote measures 140 x 70 mm and was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited.
