The Banco Nacional de Colombia issued this 20 centavos banknote on January 1, 1887. Printed by the Homer Lee Bank Note Company of New York, this note was part of a series introduced during the presidency of Rafael Núñez, who served from 1880 to 1882 and again from 1884 to 1894.
The front of the note features a black print on a gold underprint, with a portrait of Rafael Núñez at the lower left and the Colombian coat of arms at the right. The reverse side is brown with a red seal at the center. This banknote, cataloged as Pick 189, was demonetized and is no longer in circulation.
