About this banknote
The Bank of Ghana issued the 20 cedis banknote in 2013 as part of the third cedi series, which commenced in 2007. This series was introduced to revalue the national currency, with the third cedi being equal to 10,000 of the previous second cedi.
The obverse of the note features portraits of Ghana's "Big Six" leaders: Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta. Also depicted are the Independence Arch and the national coat of arms. The reverse showcases the Supreme Court building and a stack of gold bars.
