About this banknote
The Bank of Ghana issued the 20 cedis banknote on July 1, 2007, as part of the third cedi series introduced that year. This series was launched to redenominate the currency by removing four zeros from the previous cedi, aiming to simplify transactions and accounting.
The front of the banknote features portraits of Ghana's "Big Six" leaders—Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta—at the right. The Independence Arch is depicted at the center, with the national coat of arms below and a star to the left. The reverse side showcases the Supreme Court building. The note measures 149 x 74 mm and was printed by De La Rue, London.
