About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 2 leva banknote (Pick 115b) in 2005. This release maintained the design and security features of the 1999 issue, with updates including the year of issue, signatures of the Governor and Chief Cashier, and a blue-toned paper.
The obverse features a portrait of Paisius of Hilendar, with the Zografou Monastery on Mount Athos, the Monastery Seal, and the interior of Paisius' monastic cell in the background. The reverse displays a facsimile of the Zografou draft of the "Historiae Sclavo-Bulgaricus," seals from four Bulgarian rulers, a rampant lion, and the Bulgarian Coat of Arms.
