About this banknote
The Bulgarian National Bank issued the 2 leva banknote in 1962 as part of the third lev currency reform, which redenominated the lev at a rate of 10 old leva to 1 new lev. This series was printed by Goznak, the Russian state printing company.
The front of the note features the Bulgarian coat of arms on the left. The back depicts a woman in traditional national costume picking grapes in a vineyard, based on a 1960 photograph of Kina Gurbova from Suhindol village in the Veliko Tarnovo region. The banknote measures 108 x 56 mm and was demonetized on December 31, 1996.
