About this banknote
The National Bank of Albania (Banka Kombëtare e Shqipnis) issued the 2 Lek banknote in 1940 during the Italian occupation of Albania (1939–1943). This series was produced by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome, Italy.
The obverse features a youthful Hercules at the right and the crowned national arms at the left. The reverse displays a crowned double-headed eagle at the left. The note measures 95 x 54 mm and is printed on paper. It bears the signatures of Antonio Mosconi, President (1935–1943), and Amedeo Gambino, Counselor Delegate (1939–1945).
