About this banknote
The Bank of Zambia issued the 2 kwacha banknote (Pick 24) between 1980 and 1987. This series was introduced to update the national currency, featuring contemporary designs and enhanced security features. The note was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, Limited, a renowned British security printing firm.
The obverse of the banknote displays an African fish eagle and a portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda in tribal attire on the right. The reverse features a scene of a teacher assisting a child with painting, with a school building depicted on the right. The watermark consists of President Kenneth Kaunda's profile. This particular note bears the signature of Dr. Leonard S. Chivuno, who served as Governor of the Bank of Zambia from 1986 to 1987.
