The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued the 2-dollar banknote in 1983, featuring the signature of Governor Kombo James Moyana, who served from 1983 to August 1993. This note was part of the first series introduced after Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, with the 2-dollar denomination first released on 15 July 1981.
The front of the banknote displays an African Cape buffalo on the left and the Chiremba Balancing Rocks near Harare at the center right. The reverse features a goliath tigerfish in the center and the Kariba Dam and reservoir on the right. The note measures 134 x 69 mm and has a watermark of the Zimbabwe Bird.
