About this banknote
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey issued the 1,000,000 lira banknote (Pick 213) on September 9, 1996, as part of the E7 Emission Group, Series II. This series was introduced to address the need for higher denomination currency during a period of high inflation.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at the center right. The back displays a panoramic view of the Atatürk Dam in Şanlıurfa-Adıyaman. The banknote measures 160 x 76 mm and has a watermark of Kemal Atatürk. It was withdrawn from circulation on January 1, 2006, and ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 2016.
