About this banknote
The Banco Central de Bolivia issued the 100,000 pesos bolivianos banknote in 1987. This note was part of a provisional series introduced during the transition from the peso boliviano to the new boliviano, which took effect on January 1, 1987. The overprint of "10 centavos" on the 100,000 pesos bolivianos note was a temporary measure to facilitate the currency changeover.
The front of the banknote features a brown-violet design on a multicolored underprint, with the Bolivian coat of arms in a hexagonal frame on the left and a portrait of a campesino (peasant) on the right. The reverse depicts a standing man with a plow and oxen, alongside a farmer driving a modern tractor in a field, symbolizing agrarian reform. This overprinted note, cataloged as Pick 197, was printed by Giesecke & Devrient.
