The Banco de la República de Colombia issued the 1000 pesos banknote (Pick 438) in 1994. This series was introduced on January 3, 1994, with subsequent issues on November 1, 1994; July 1, 1995; August 2, 1995; and October 2, 1995.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Simón Bolívar on the left side. Notably, the words "EL" and "ORO" are omitted from the title and value, respectively. The reverse side depicts a scene honoring the heroes of the 1819 battle. The watermark is a portrait of Simón Bolívar.
