About this banknote
The Central Bank of Chile issued the 1000 Pesos banknote (Pick #107) on October 1, 1947. This note was part of a series introduced between 1945 and 1947, during the presidencies of Enrique Oyarzún Mondaca (1940–1946) and Manuel Trucco Franzani (1946–1951).
The obverse features a brown portrait of Manuel Blanco Encalada on a green underprint, with his name inscribed below. The reverse depicts the founding of Santiago de Chile at the center, rendered in brown and purple hues. Printed by Talleres de Especies Valoradas in Santiago, Chile, the note measures 180 x 80 mm and was demonetized at a later date.
