The Bank of Albania issued the 1000 Lekë banknote (Pick 73) in 2011, with circulation commencing on June 3, 2013. This issuance was authorized by the Supervisory Council's Decision No. 48, dated June 29, 2011, to reprint the existing 1000 Lekë note.
The obverse features a portrait of Pjetër Bogdani (1625–1689), a prominent Albanian writer and clergyman, alongside a stylized sun symbol. The reverse depicts the Catholic Church of Vau i Dejës and an astronomical drawing illustrating a lunar eclipse. This note measures 152 x 72 mm and includes a 2 mm wide security thread with demetalized "1000".
