About this banknote
The Banco Central do Brasil issued the 1000 cruzeiros banknote (Pick 197) in 1980 as part of the 1978 ND series. This series introduced a new design style, with the 1000 cruzeiros note being the first to feature this updated aesthetic.
The obverse displays a double portrait of José Maria da Silva Paranhos, the Barão do Rio Branco, with the bank's name, "BANCO CENTRAL DO BRASIL," printed in two lines. The reverse features a double view of machinery. The watermark is a portrait of the Barão do Rio Branco.
