About this banknote
The Banco Central de la República Argentina issued the 1000 australes banknote in 1988 as part of the effort to manage the country's hyperinflation. This series was introduced following currency reform which began on June 15, 1985, replacing the peso argentino with the austral at a rate of 1 austral = 1,000 pesos.
The front side of the banknote features a portrait of Julio Argentino Roca, with a latent image of "BCRA" and signature titles "GERENTE GENERAL" and "PRESIDENTE." The back side depicts Liberty (Progreso) holding a torch and shield. Printed by Casa de Moneda (CdM), the note is identified as Pick number 329.
