About this banknote

The State Bank of the Russian Empire issued the 100 rubles note as part of the State Credit Notes series in 1898. This series was introduced to consolidate and standardize currency within the Russian Empire under the supervision of Aleksey Vladimirovich Konshin, then Governor of the State Bank.

The front side of this banknote features a portrait of Catherine II on a tan underprint. It measures 260 x 122 mm and was printed on cotton paper by the Expedition for the Preparation of Government Papers (EZGB), now known as Goznak. The watermark also features Catherine II.
