About this banknote
The Bank of Mexico issued the 100 pesos banknote on November 12, 2020, as part of its ongoing program to update the national currency series. This release followed the introduction of redesigned 500 and 200 pesos notes in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
The front of the note features a portrait of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz on the lower right, with the main patio of the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso depicted to her left. The reverse showcases a temperate forest scene with monarch butterflies, representing the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. This polymer note measures 132 x 65 mm and is presented in a vertical format.
