About this banknote
The Banco de España issued the 100 pesetas banknote dated February 19, 1946. This note was part of a series introduced to update Spain's currency during the post-Civil War period. The banknote was put into circulation on December 30, 1949.
The obverse features a bust of Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, based on a sculpture by Mariano Benlliure, with the multicolor coat of arms of Spain in the background. The reverse displays Goya's painting "El Quitasol" (The Parasol). The note measures 139 × 88 mm and was printed by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre.
